We built Dream Conversion Lab: an AI platform that lets 4x4 owners preview real upgrades on their own vehicle, then connect with a local fitment centre to bring the build to life.

Kitting out a 4x4 is a big-ticket decision made almost blind. An owner planning a bull bar, snorkel, canopy and lighting can spend tens of thousands of rand, yet the only preview is a brochure photo of someone else's vehicle. Working out which parts actually fit a specific make, model and year means phoning around, and comparing fitment centres means a weekend of showroom visits. Centres feel the other side of it: they compete for walk-ins and social-media attention, with no direct line to the buyers who are actively planning a build. DCL needed a platform that would show people the finished vehicle first, and turn that confidence into qualified, priced work for the centres that fit it.

We built a three-sided marketplace on one platform. Owners add their vehicle and capture six guided photos on their phone. A live outline for each angle turns green once the vehicle is framed, so every shot is usable, and number plates are masked automatically. They choose a fitment centre on a map and browse only that centre's products and packages, each checked against their make, model, year and body type, with rules that block parts that can't be fitted together. Generative AI then fits the chosen parts onto the owner's own photos, angle by angle, with a before-and-after slider and a running budget. A second AI model checks every render for the right vehicle, the right parts and clean bodywork, and sends failures back for another attempt. From there, the build goes to the centre as a quote request. Fitment centres get their own portal to manage their catalogue and fitment rules, price incoming leads, create designs for walk-in customers and run their subscription. An admin console handles business approvals, platform finance and AI spend. The platform is built on React and .NET and runs on Microsoft Azure.

Watch DCL in action

DCL turns an expensive guess into a confident, visual decision. Owners see what their own vehicle will look like, what it will cost and who will fit it before they commit, and they can publish finished builds to a community that ranks the best rigs, creators and centres. Fitment centres receive leads that arrive with the vehicle, the photos, the parts and a running total already attached, so pricing a request no longer starts with a phone call. Their dashboard shows which products buyers are building around. For DCL, the marketplace earns through tiered centre subscriptions and per-lead fees, tracked in a single finance view. Every build also adds to a growing picture of what South Africa's 4x4 owners want to fit next, which is the foundation for the market-intelligence side of the business as it expands from Pretoria to the rest of the country.
